Unexpected Effects of Smile Makeovers
A smile makeover is a procedure or series of procedures that is designed to give you the smile that you have always wanted. Any aspect that a patient wishes to address concerning the aesthetics of their smile can be corrected through a smile makeover. And while a smile makeover improves the cosmetic appearance of the patient, it often ends up leading to better oral health as well.
Smile makeovers can treat missing, misshaped, chipped, discolored, and crooked teeth. The procedures that are used will be determined by the needs of the patient. Sometimes it is as simple as a teeth whitening procedure. Other times, patients come to our cosmetic dentist to have all of their amalgam fillings removed and replaced with tooth-colored composite fillings. In some cases, a patient may be missing several teeth in their bottom row and have several chipped teeth in their top row. For this particular patient, the missing teeth in the bottom row can be replaced with dental implants. The top teeth can be restored using dental bonding or veneers.
Many patients do not realize that having a smile makeover done may also lead them on a path to better oral hygiene. It is not necessarily always the case, but patients who have had a smile makeover done want to do everything they can to maintain their new set of pearly whites. Due to this desire, a greater effort at practicing good oral hygiene often occurs. Patients have also developed better eating habits, quit smoking, and lost weight to maintain their perfect smiles.
